Nicola Singletary, PhD, MAT, IBCLC
After studying biology at Meredith College, I spent the early part of my career sharing my love of science with middle school students. It was not until after the birth of my first child in 2007 and the challenges I faced breastfeeding that I became interested in pursuing a career in breastfeeding support.
I enrolled at NCSU to study human nutrition and also completed the Mary Rose Tully Training Initiative through the Carolina Global Breastfeeding Institute at UNC in 2012 as preparation to become an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC). In 2013, I completed the requirements for the Master of Nutrition degree at NCSU and worked part time in a pediatric practice providing lactation support as an IBCLC. I recently completed my PhD at NCSU; my dissertation research focused on breastfeeding education in schools.
In the fall of 2013, I opened Harmony Lactation, LLC with the goal of helping mothers meet their breastfeeding goals. I live in the Apex area with my husband and two sons.
